Couchiching Conservancy members celebrated 20 years of protecting nature by reminiscing about the early days, special days and making plans for the next five years at its annual general meeting.

About 75 members took part in the festivities, held Saturday at Hawk Ridge Golf and Country Club, but the absence of guest speaker Dr. Ron Brooks, who couldn’t make the drive from Guelph in snowy conditions, gave members a little more time to talk about fond memories.

The Couchiching Conservancy started with a small group of dedicated volunteers around a kitchen table with the mission of saving some environmentally sensitive land from development in perpetuity.
