The Spirit of Giving: Cameron Curran

In News by couchiching

Every year, concerned citizens donate to the Conservancy to help protect nature. For the next few weeks, we are featuring some people who have taken fundraising into their own hands.

Cam Curran's CalendarHaving spent his summers growing up at Lake Dalrymple near the Carden alvar, Cameron’s love of nature started young. He got connected to The Couchiching Conservancy through the Carden Alvar Nature Festival. Eventually Cameron did a summer internship with us, spending his time on the landscape he loved, searching for bobolinks and assisting with various conservation projects. Fast forward a few years later, and Cameron is back in school at the University of Guelph. He is working on an MSc degree in Rural Planning with a focus on watershed conservation and is still involved as a volunteer with the Conservancy. Throughout his time being connected to us, Cameron has always sent in his excellent photographs of local birds, wildlife and landscapes. For 2018, he decided to create a calendar of some of these images, with a portion supporting conservation efforts in our region.

“I choose to donate $2.00 from every nature photography calendar I sell to the Couchiching Conservancy as an effort to do my part in protecting important habitat, like the Carden Alvar. It is important for me to “walk the talk” and contributing proceeds is one way I can exude my gratitude for the natural environment.”

Thank you Cam! You can still purchase a calendar for $15 cash from our office while quantities last, or online here.
