You could help us win $10,000 for conservation!

2018 Great Canadian Giving Challenge

You can help us win a $10,000 donation! From June 1 – 30, all donations made through Canada Helps are an entry. So, a $20 equals 20 entries to win.

Last year, $3102 was contributed in June, so we were entered 3102 times to this contest!

All funds raised support conservation efforts in the region. The protection of vast forests, wetlands and alvar. The care of hundreds of acres of habitat for species like Blanding’s Turtles, Eastern Bluebird, Moose and hundreds of others.

A $25 donation could help us protect one acre of land for a year. That includes direct stewardship activities like trail maintenance, hazardous tree assessment, invasive species work, and staff costs to coordinate these activities with volunteers, plus direct property costs such as taxes and materials. So, winning a $10,000 donation could power the protection of approximately 400-500 acres for another year!

Or, it could help to power approximately half of an acquisition project which can cost between $20,000 – $30,000. That encompasses staff time to move the process along, including meetings with the land owner, meetings with lawyers, legal document writing and paperwork, land assessment costs, land transfers, and more. As of June 1, there are eight properties we are actively pursuing, with more properties at various stages in the acquisition process.
